[agl-dev-community] Collabora weekly progress w/e 1st November 2020

Hi All,

Please find below a brief summary of the progress Collabora have made last week on Weston/Wayland.

Weston / Wayland

Marius

- SPEC-3601 (Waltham integration with the new compositor) -- added recipes for building transmitter and receiver. MR for the receiver side also posted. All the components now have MR posted + associated yocto/OE recipes. For now in WIP state and pointing to sandbox branches to allow further testing.

- While testing different scenarios for both sides found SPEC-3663 (seat is missing if transmitter/receiver is started in a different order), SPEC-3664 (transmitter surface is disconnected, what should the receiver display?) and SPEC-3665 (retrying connection if the receiver is restarted). All of these are feature improvements and not necessarily bugs. The start-up order of the receiver vs the transmitter requires a bit of investigation to determine a possible solution/mitigation. Issue was found by the receiver side crashing, added for now some message to inform the user that the seat/input is not properly set-up.

- SPEC-3611 (Add/load/support waltham-transmitter into agl-compositor) - updated the MR to include the weston-transmitter-plugin surface destruction which was previously missing from the initial MR.

Kind regards,

Nick
