Hi All,

Please find below a brief summary of the progress Collabora have made last week on Weston/Wayland.

Weston / Wayland

Marius:

- on the compositor side, added a version 2 for the extended agl-shell-desktop protocol
series which includes some minor fixes to deal with the activation/de-activation of pop-up
kind of windows. It includes policy API hooks for new requests and events, and a previous
incomplete fix for the de-activation part of windows.

    - still on the compositor side, added a patch to activate the last pending
surface being added, before the ready() request is sent. This helps with situations
where the agl-shell client is started after applications were started. Without a direct
activation request the application won't be displayed. The most prominent case is
the launcher application being started before homescreen and with this patch launcher
will be shown/displayed after the ready request is sent.

- adaptation of alexa-viewer and latest homescreen done. alexa-viewer changes have bee
pushed to sandbox/mvlad/agl-compositor. For the homescreen application, I've pushed a WIP
branch as I'm investigating the homescreen library, and the service itself
to handle management of applications (as per previous APP FW meeting discussion, see SPEC-3342).
Discovered some minor issue with libqtappfw (SPEC-3340) and with agl-service-homescreen
(SPEC-3343) but none that would block my work.

Things currently looking into:

- one of the things in queue from the last update is the layout ordering of surfaces
which I've started to look into. As the management of applications is closely related
to the layout ordering I'm going to follow these two things in parallel, before submitting
a final version of/for homescreen.

Things to do in queue:

- input focus for background/regular applications, added SPEC-3344 for tracking
- remote display, forwarding applications to a different output as per SPEC-3280

Kind regards,

Nick
