[agl-dev-community] Collabora weekly progress w/e 22nd March 2020

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Hi All,

Please find below a brief summary of the progress Collabora have made last week on Pipewire and Weston/Wayland.

PipeWire

George:
    - Continue implementation of the new session management API
      - Ported the audio adapter stream class to the new session-item model
      - Implemented a factory class for session items
      - Implemented procedures for exporting session items to pipewire
      - Implemented basic unit test with an exported endpoint, using a session item

Julian:
    - Finished switching to gdbus when handling dbus device reservation logic in wireplumber.
    - Cleaned and created wireplumber MR with dbus device reservation logic.
    - Addressed all comments from George in the wireplumber dbus MR.

Weston / Wayland

Marius:

    - ozone/chromium and WAM
    - added basic front-end code in WAM to allow setting of webapps/surface roles. This assumes
that each applications requires a runtime process, which is at this stage, is highly inefficient but
it allows to test all the code-path through ozone/chromium. A more suitable alternative, I've
described over Jira task should be implemented, but that requires a (mock-up) web application
based on current html5-homescreen, but suitable to allow surface roles based on (some) html identifiers.
In the process of validating. Still missing the switch/activation code path, which I'll be looking next.
      - html5-homescreen is currently unsuitable for testing, and I've provided Igalia with a request
to write a more simple mock-up alternative.
      - found issue related to GBM,  --in-process-gpu which causes WAM to crash.
      - found issue related to panel orientation, WAM doesn't not update the surface contents properly when
the output is set clock/counter-clock wise (still looking into this issue, but seems to be client related,
will add Jira task for it, once I gather more information)
      - WAM crashes in AGL image, at this stage doesn't appear related to the GBM crash

    - started looking into R-CAR H3 builds to do validation of qtwayland/homescreen on real HW.

Kind regards,

Nick
