[agl-dev-community] Collabora weekly progress w/e 12th January 2020

Please find below a brief summary of the progress Collabora have made last week on Pipewire and Weston/Wayland.

PipeWire

George:
     - Debugged and fixed an issue that caused at random pipewire to underrun continuously.
It seems that this was a race condition that would cause the internal state
of a buffer pool to be corrupt, ending up with no available buffers
     - Reviewed Julian's recent merge requests and provided feedback

Julian:
    - Addressed George's comments on wireplumber config static nodes merge request
    - Cleaned and improved wireplumber monitor code to make it easier to update to latest pipewire API
    - Fixed all wireplumber compiler errors when using latest pipewire API

Weston / Wayland
Daniel:
   - On leave

Marius:

    - Based on some rather rudimentary wrappers on top of libafbswsc + some cpp and QML
glue code, I can start other applications. That is coupled with agl-shell
request from within homescreen which allows to start a few applications and switch to them.
Looking into using agl-driver user instead of root for starting both homescreen and
    other applications.

    - Converted mediaplayer and hvac to remove libhomescreen/windowmanager dependencies.
Looking into converting remaining navigation and launcher.

    - Added systemd-notify module from weston into agl-compositor. Necessary to able to
start cleanly the compositor from unitd systemd.

Kind regards,

Nick
