Jordi, Nothing is perfect. I trust secretariat to do its best for scheduling in advance. I see meetings years ahead already identified with the hotel. I’m involved in other SDOs and often the next confs is not known until a few months ahead. We can’t control flights prices and airlines. I suggest you book as best as you can, and if it is too pricy, consider the virtual way, which nowadays, mostly because covid, has improved so much that it is really an appropriate alternative with not too much of disadvantages. I’m not sure there is value to continue discussing about advanced planning or airlines prices.

Yes, that’s right. I continuously book all my flights 11 months in advance, and continuously can see that any weeks of difference from that since the flight is available for booking quickly increase the price, at least booked from Spain.
Booking from Vancouver next week (when the flight will be actually available for booking) vs booking a few weeks later, makes a huge differnce.
In addition to that, if you book with miles (which is not the case for me for the Brisbane flight, because Iberia don’t have a direct flight or even code shared), often means that you can use the miles or “bad luck” the seats available for miles usare are gone.

Jordi,
You are saying that flights booked today are more expensive than they were 90 days ago. Please provide proof.

Hi Ole,
Is not a problem of perspective, because I’m not saying “not to go to AU”. I’m saying that for such location, we need to allow the people to book 11-12 months in advance their flights, so if the contract couldn’t have been finished before, then we should have looked for meeting there some time after.
Is not just “a bit more expensive” is more than double ...
For me and some other folks I’ve discussed with, is a non-go (unless a miracle with airlines drop the price to a rationale one).
