One of the things that we need to address is that the meetings are announce (city), at least 1 year in advance, without exceptions. I got some info, not sure if right or not, that Brisbane was not the initial venue in Australia and Brisbane has been a last minute choosing because the previous venue failure. The result, at least for travelers from Europe means that the cost of the flight (booking today) is 3 times in economy (about 2.500 euros), double in business (about 7.000 euros). Not really aceptable. I’m not sure if such cost increase is the same traveling from other regions, but for sure many europeans may fail to attend Brisbane if they have traveling cost restrictions. When there is such issue as a venue not signing (or breaking) the contract, we must have an alternative, even if it is Minneapolis or whatever, that doesn’t increase the cost for the participants and even if it means we change the rotation plan.
