Network problems belong to an area that is most difficult to debug remotely due to the multitude of possible sources for errors: cabling errors, incompatible NICs, hardware conflicts, MAC/ARP/IP based conflicts, bad network parameters (netmask e.g.). Debugging network problems usually requires a lot of work by the individual who has the problems: collecting network config parameters, examining log files (repeatedly), checking NIC config, checking route table, ping tests, traceroute tests, ARP tests, trying peer-to-peer or simple bus topology in order to reduce hardware effort, trying hardcoded network configuration instead of relying on probably misconfigured DHCP servers, and things like that. > Bringing up interface eth0: > Determining IP information for eth0...PING 10.2.1.1 (10.2.1.1) 56(84) > bytes of data > --10.2.1.1 ping statistics-- > 3 packets transmitted, 0 received, +3 errors, 100% packet loss, time > 2010ms > ,pipe 3 > failed > [FAILED] - -- -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.2 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQE/NKUg0iMVcrivHFQRAtn7AJwPpzd3l93jXhVNtweyNWTjtgKKDwCfVZIC YBNnUdA5DnJpOdyT6oqK0mM= =Na3u -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- Shrike-list mailing list Shrike-list@xxxxxxxxxx https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/shrike-list
