I suspect that these are qualities that are at least somewhat helpful to the kind of engineering that IETF necessarily needs to do, i.e. accepting input from people with very diverse experiences and assumptions, and taking those diverse inputs into account when constructing and evaluating solutions.   So selecting for such people might not inherently be a Bad Thing.
