Re: [Last-Call] OT: change BCP 83 [Re: Last Call: BCP 83 PR-Action Against Dan Harkins]

Hi,

Maybe it would help to know that there are similar critiques from the left on these topics. Two examples would be:

"Virtue Hoarders: The Case against the Professional Managerial Class" and "Tense Present: Democracy, English, and the Wars Over Usage".

But I think the overarching theme is that it's not news. It's easy enough to just say "ok, what words are we using?" and get on with things. Terminology discussions are an endless rathole. That's why wasting time keeps coming up.

thanks,
Rob

In that case I will submit an emphatic "no support" to the motion.  I
have read these messages, as well as refreshing on the entirety of the
thread on "IESG Statement On Oppressive or Exclusionary Language".

Nadim Kobeissi summed it up well in
https://mailarchive.ietf.org/arch/msg/ietf/XKikRaujzMZw7-tkz7WnQHbB2mk/

His concluding remark from that message

This BCP is just one more step towards this splintering.
