Joe, Another thing you can do, instead of installing/virtualizing 32 bit Ubuntu/Debian, is use a livecd and try SLMODEMD.gcc4.X-alsa-1.??? that matches the alsa on the livecd and try to fax using the livecd only? That way the modem will do work, since using x86_64 is difficult to get 32 bit drivers working with some exceptions *^ * hsfmodem/hcfmodem drivers from linuxant have 64 bit drivers available ^ martian modem drivers can be compiled from 64 bit and are usable Regards, Antonio On Wed, May 12, 2010 at 1:38 PM, Joe(theWordy)Philbrook <jtwdyp@xxxxxxxx> wrote: > > It would appear that on May 9, Marvin Stodolsky did say: > >> RE external modem for occassional usage >> Note that if you use a cellphone, there are several that can be used >> as a wireless modem. >> There is typically some small added charge on top of your regular cell >> phone usage. >> But check with your cellphone service provider. > > My cell is a prepaid tracfone...
