Did it happen once, or is it systematic?

Is the time always the same?

Most important, are yuo receiving or transmitting data during the interval, or is the line connected, active if you like the word, or idle while you are doing something else?

If the last case is true, then simply your ISP hangs the line while too idle.

PLEASE always write to the list for issues directly connected for software and/or operation problems.

Keep offline for issues which are not of general interest.

Hi Jacques,

I am againg comming to you seeking support related to one
issue which I am not getting very much clear.

The issue is Once I connect to
wvdial..it works fine..but suddenly it gets disconnected after 2 mins approx (I have
tested in several ocassions) by giving the error code 16, which means the modem hung up
the connection. So I donot know is there any issue from my modem or its related to the
telephone line or the remote modem (which is acting as a server).

below
is the error received:-
--> The PPP daemon has died: A modem hung up the phone
(exit code = 16)
--> man pppd explains pppd error codes in more detail.
--> Try again and look into /var/log/messages and the wvdial and pppd man pages for
more information.
