Hi Jaccques,

Out of curosity I I just Ran tne command setseraal /dev/modem and the result was that
the kernel disabled the IRQ (I think the module crashed)

Apr 15 01:15:24 www kernel: irq 185: nobody cared (try booting with the "irqpoll" option)

Apr 15 01:15:24 www kernel: Disabling IRQ #185

and next when i try wvdialconf /etc/wvdial.con it gives error ar input/output error

Then I tried to reinstall the alsa and hsf (same rpms) but without any joy.Finally I
reinserted the modem card and i think it works now:-

below are some logs:-
[root@www ~]# wvdial /etc/wvdial.conf
--> WvDial: Internet dialer version 1.54.0
--> Warning: section [Dialer /etc/wvdial.conf] does not exist in wvdial.conf.
--> Initializing modem.
--> Sending: ATZ

OK
--> Sending: ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 +FCLASS=0
ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 +FCLASS=0
OK
--> Modem initialized.
--> Sending: ATDTxxxxxx
--> Waiting for carrier.
ATDT23572514
CONNECT 460800
--> Carrier detected. Starting PPP immediately.
--> Starting pppd at Thu Apr 15 02:25:58 2010
--> pid of pppd: 4846

--> pppd: es
--> pppd: es
--> pppd: es
--> local  IP address xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
--> pppd: es
--> remote IP address xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

So I think the problem was related to the loose connection may have happened due to the
repeated attempt to jackin and jackout of cables (As previously i was suspecting an
issue related to faulty cable rj11 at modem end)

Now I am getting a strange message sometimes in my syslog.

CCP: timeout sending Config-Requests

Yes, definitely, the driver does not work.
Was this test executed using the hsf driver answering "yes" when offered
to use the replacement driver, or using the ALSA driver as recommended
for HDA drivers on the Linuxant Web site?
