Average US domestic itinerary cost has gone down 30% over the last 20
years (inflation-adjusted); they seem to have hit a floor after 2009.

Note: Virtual interims tend towards more frequent meetings. Once you
pass the once-a-month level and move towards the once-a-week level, that
form of participation *severely* restricts the ability to participate of
the timezone-challenged compared to an email-heavy style of interaction.
