Not my experience, and I usually fly every month, so I buy a 10-12 flights each year, most of them Madrid-Asia-Madrid or Madrid-LAC-Madrid, a few to NA or Africa. I spend many hours for every booking in making sure that I find the best deals with OneWorld (unless it is absolutely impossible for some specific destination). Nevertheless, I already added a reminder in my calendar to see the MAD-BNE-MAD flight prices each week or so the next 3-4 months. Sometimes they drop the price a bit when the dates get closer if the planes aren’t full, but not so easy to happen now, since some airlines don’t have yet all their A380 (and 747) fully operational (most of them where parked indefinitely during the pandemic), or not recovered in all the routes, so they are using smaller planes, so less seats available.
