I think I understand.  You're saying that it's OK to infringe on copyrights if nobody complains.  To me that sounds like a bad standard for standards.

If you are going to put words in my mouth, I would say, "don't make a mountain out of a mole hill.".  Is the copyright holder asking for changes?  Everyone knows when they write RFCs they are being published.  The dotting i's for copyright releases is MINOR.  Pulling an entire RFC is MAJOR.

Are you the copyright holder?  Are you even aware of any harm or confusion from this issue?
