Thanks for the explanation, now that I'm getting a hang of this issue, 
everything is 10 times clearer.  

As for switching the gnugk default port from 1721 to 1720, I would agree with 
Jan for many new users would load other programs on the same machine to test 
out the gk.  This would definitely cause other unforeseen problems for users.  
After understand this port issues, I could easily switch my signaling port 
from other sources to 1721.
