Works well here :-). Not "released" because not very useful (I do it for fun) and it's in alpha stage (perhaps it will stay). > The above is a bug in initscripts - it should be reported in bugzilla. No bug in initscripts here. Feel free to file a bug report if you want. > * You say that asound.conf is for the end-user. Only one time I complain about this issue and don't "bloat" bugzilla with this. I state that is not the opinion of Red Hat and don't I speak about this again. proof : My version of system-config-soundcard use /etc/asound.conf even if I don't like this. And I don't plan to add this "feature". > Asking you to break down your request into manageable chunks. I can't/don't want. Too much work. > Again this is a problem related to udev, etc. Please, read the bug report ! I (Bill first in mailing), say this should be resolve with udev, And I ask to move this issue to udev : https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=133535#c11 Note, I ask again to move this bug to udev : http://www.redhat.com/archives/fedora-devel-list/2004-October/msg00004.html And in this bug I am not taking about asound.conf. So please, stop this ! You are confusing other people (if there is some else ready this "stupid" thread). > patchutils can help with diff management - if you haven't used them I > really suggest you play with them. Well, I am a full time developer (C mostly) from 8 years, but thank to the advice. > If you don't have time to break it down, but have an explanation of > everything you are doing Already done. > I can't do this right now, but can you > post a NEW post to the list with just a link to your patch Already pointed : http://feliciano.matias.free.fr/system-config-soundcard/ > set to fedora-patches-list Never asked to include my patch in FC3. I state from the very beginning that's to late. > and join #fedora-bugweek on irc.freenode.net to poke > people to triage your patches. Don't like irc because English :-) I am putting some bugs report in bugzilla in the hope to make things more clear. > One think I'm thinking of - which other config maintainers may have > opinions on is moving development in freeze to a branch so things can > still proceed. Right now, I don't have problem with how Red Hat manage the Fedora project. Only pointed sometimes that communication in general is laking and about rpm not signed. > One of the things I'm trying to explain is *why* we like > to have split patches broken down by bug or individual feature. Since I am a developer, I know this :-) And you should know that sometime it's not possible/easy to have "sweet" independent patchs for a stable version. This is why there are Linux 2.4 and 2.5 for example. This is why backport can be so hard, ... > I reiterate, that I personally found it hard to read. OK, sometimes I am not perfect :-) > when you are done why not post a mail summarising the bug > numbers here. This will be done. Don't get me wrong. I LOVE Red Hat and Fedora and I use Red Hat since release 4.2 and at home exclusively linux since rh5.2. Red Hat is a very respectable company which do a _very_ great jobs in improving GNU/Linux. Really, I am honest. It's not the first time I am here in debugging or helping other testers/developers. Mainly things goes well. I don't like to reply to this kind of message because you are mostly right. But you seems to treat me as a newbie that need some advice to work with the community. It's not the first time I work with the community (not only with Red Hat) nor the last. I am not a "popular" nor a great hacker, but if I feel I can help, I do. Sure I need some advices. But I am not a newbie :-) Can you image Bastien don't manage well his communication with me ? Seems you don't. Forget this, there is nothing "serious".
