Please find below a brief summary of the progress Collabora have made last week on Pipewire and Weston/Wayland.

PipeWire

George:
    - Continued work on simplifying some WirePlumber API to align with recent PipeWire changes
    - Added the ability to generate API documentation for WirePlumber in its build system, using hotdoc
    - Started writing API documentation for WirePlumber
    - Reviewed some of Julian's work on the fade in/out feature that he is implementing on PipeWire

Julian:
    - Fixed pipewire example-control executable on master
    - Implemented pipewire adapter-control executable to test audio fade in/out with audioadapter nodes
    - Implemented handling of control sequences in pipewire channelmix node to do fade in/out
    - Fixing tiny pipewire audio glitches when testing fade in/out with adapter-copntrol example

Weston / Wayland

Marius:

    - took a deeper look at agl-service-homescreen in a tentative to determine if exposing some of the requests from the agl-shell protocol can be done in the binder. While I do have some code for this, the initial feedback was negative and decided to focus more on upstreaming the changes for the compositor the applications themselves. Will revisit it once I start looking into notification mechanism.
    - in the process of upstreaming agl-compositor fixes/updates and adaptation of homescreen/launcher/hvac/mediaplayer/navigation-demo, and making sure the build image launches straight into the client shell (homescreen). Half-way through on the applications,  trying to see if there's an alternative of modifying each yocto recipe, as suggested by Jan-Simon.
    - wrote a simplified client shell to further test the qtwayland issue, and started to reach out qtwayland people to gather more info about it. All of this point it seems a qtbase/qtwayland version update might fix it, but not 100% sure on it. There's a planned update which should in the reach AGL master version in the next month.

Kind regards,

Nick
