Are good reads. I posit that the old version didn't really "work fine"
but rather people got used to it's problems and didn't realize the
behind the scenes cost of keeping it from falling down.
That's what code refactoring is for. It doesn't justify replacing it
with something new with fewer capabilities - especially since it didn't
actually have anything particularly wrong with it. The only thing that
has happened since year dot that would have needed adding to the
anaconda text mode installer is addition of iSCSI/AoE/FC media support,
and every once in a while a new file system (not that many considering
how few are actually deemed "supported"). The expression "slaughtering a
cow for a pound of meat" comes to mind.
