With that phylosophy, we should all buy bottled water and not drinking from a safe stream.

I think I'm going to steal this analogy. Linux is like water. You can get it for free all over the place. Some companies will check it for you, make sure it is clean and tastes good, put it in a bottle and sell it (Red Hat). You can also get water for free from other places that do some checking that it is clean (they might miss some bugs in there), but you can be reasonably sure that it won't hurt you (Freshrpms.net, Fedora, etc.).
Of course the analogy doesn't work 100% (none do) because no one has decided to patent the water molecule. Unfortunately that is the real reason most people complain about packages not being included (this thread as an example).
A great steal and a great convincing argument, to convince others to pay for cleaned up Linux based programs. If my camera worked with RHL, then I might have bitten the hook.
My main peeve was with the ideal that if you don't pay for something. It is stealing, or is dishonest.
That statement throws friendship and marriage into the state of dishonesty and throws the mafia and prostitution into the "honest" arena.
I'll stick with marriage, friendship and Linux, for free.
Later,
Jim
