I read the other messages on this thread this morning. I also installed
Flash via the tarball, simply copying (as root) the files into the above
directory. It's really that easy. Each time Mozilla launches, it reads
from this directory to find out what plugins are installed. So anything
put in that directory is considered a plugin. The two files on my system
are:
libflashplayer.so
ShockwaveFlash.class

Both of them were in the tarball, along with a readme telling where to
copy them.
