Yes, if you're going to cut film down, you pretty much have to go all
the way into slide mounts or some such.  Way too much trouble and money
for me (and in a smaller collection, too; but a rather less valuable one).

For me, the fact that a photo has particular people in it is MUCH more
important than that I took it in California, or London, or Sydney.  So
filing by what's important isn't an option.  Other collections will of
course have different uses and priorities; I can see how it probably is
very useful to file your film by location.
