Ideally, laptops should have pen-tip sensitive input panels and people should be able to use whatever pointy object happens to be handy, rather than being out of luck if they lose the prescribed tool. The longer I use a Wacom pen on my tablet at my desktop computer the more fervently I agree with this statement. It drives me CRAZY to use the touch pad on my laptop.
