So anybody, please, give me a hint how to overcome the problem of getting the
USB device (a camera for instance) to work on my Knoppix 3.7 when it simply
refuses. And yes, in that distro I even cannot login as root to make changes
to the conf files. Root logins are simply not allowed in Knoppix 3.7. All I
can do is to save my docs to my home folder. And feel stupid.
Not being able to log in as root is a feature. It's a feature you *can*
change, but it's best to do things the proper way :-)
The sudo command will allow you to execute a command as root. If you
execute bash as sudo you'll get a shell with root access. (type "sudo
bash"). sudo asks you for your password if you haven't entered it recently.
