$50? $50!! I guess now that everything is digital you don't even have to cover a photographer's expenses for film and processing. Portrait photographers run into this all the time...if I can get an 8x10 from Walmart for $3.84 cents why do you charge $45.00 for an 8x10 enlargement. Your bosses may feel, however, that if the images were created on their time and/or with their equipment and materials that they have you over a "Work for Hire" dilemma. Politely inform them that unless they change your job description you can't provide any photography for them (use lack of training or any other reason you feel fit to utter). And an explanation of the penalties they can incur for theft of intellectual property (copyright violation) in the US should discourage piracy. darkroommike ---------- ----- Original Message ----- From: "Achal Pashine" <achal@stanford.edu> To: "List for Photo/Imaging Educators - Professionals - Students" <photoforum@listserver.isc.rit.edu> Sent: Thursday, October 16, 2003 1:07 PM Subject: Re: question regarding assignment > OK guys, > Thanks for all your suggestions, they are very helpful (especially > Bobbert's). > According to my calculations, the total for my 3 images would be around $450 > (based on more than 20,000 circulation of brochure and also other factors; > Q: will this be expensive than if the license the images from Corbis?) but > the people (who also happen to be my superiors here) are probably expecting > that I give away the images for free (since my main job is research and not > photography), because they have not uttered a word about money.
