I suspect you and I have far more agreement than disagreement on these points, but we've strayed well off my central point and I'd like to go back to it. I'm not interested in debating the finer points of whether or not Linux is ready for non technical end users. Wrong direction for my issue. My issue, which I would like to restate now, is that it is profoundly irresponsible of those in charge of maintaining our national infrastructures to expose our access to power, transportation, and telecommunications to disease prone technology, well known to be riddled with security holes just waiting for the next half-baked exploit. We need to point this out to the media in our communities. I want to see the media questioning this, rather than likcing their chops over all the juicy viruses--and how awful it is that somebody would do that. Wrong focus. They act as if the underlying OS can be taken for granted. We need to point out that it shouldn't be taken for granted, and that the officials who do are culpible.
