It is correct to do:sudo slmodemd -c GERMANY --alsa hw:0,6> SmartLink Soft Modem: version 2.9.9e-pre1 Mar 20 2007 14:45:09> symbolic link `/dev/ttySL0' -> `/dev/pts/5' created.> modem `hw:0,6' created. TTY is `/dev/pts/5'> Use `/dev/ttySL0' as modem device, Ctrl+C for termination.
but you are using an old version 2.9.9e-prePlease delete the /usr/sbin/slmodemdand replace it with the one from SLMODEMD-1.0.13.tar.gzwhich has the version 2.9.11 update.
after$ sudo slmodemd -c GERMANY --alsa hw:0,6 open a 2nd console and$ sudo wvdialconf /etc/wvdial.confwhich will find the modem.
Then edit in your personal info with:$ sudo gedit /etc/wvdial.confreplacing the <????> blocks and adding a line: Carrier Check = no
Then try a dialout with$ sudo wvdial
Report back if the there is a recurrence of> error: period size 48 is not supported by playback (64).
