Can you clarify?
The position of "if you don't want to be photographed carte blanche,
then don't participate in face-to-face meetings" is exclusionary and
hostile to anyone who values that aspect of their privacy. I can see how
we ended up with it as a legacy policy, but once the issues with that
policy have been made flagged [1], it's pretty indefensible.
Again, if this rises to a level of harassment we already have a mechanism. But anonymity is directly defeated by the act of appearing in public.
It's not about strict anonymity; it's about (to borrow Suzanne's
characterization) "time, place, and manner."
