Mixing human labelling and a asking for people to respect the labels is
doomed to protocol failure.
If I'm at the front of the room taking a picture to show how crowded it
is, I will likely be taking a picture of someone with a label on. There
is no way I can respect their wishes.
If I am wearing a label and I see someone taking a picture that might
include me, I get confirmation that the label was useless.
There is no way for someone's legitimate desire not to be photographed
when 90% of the crowd has cameras in their pockets and maybe half of
them are excited that they are somewhere pretty, or in a room with lots
of people with whom they share an interest.
It is perfectly reasonable to have a policy that asks for respect when
taking photos primarily of individuals, and to have a policy against
photographing the room for people with their hands up (or not up).
(I say this as someone who doesn't like to be photographed in general.)
