My opinion is nuanced. (I'm a voting member) 1. experienced IETF people know the nomcom process is starting in August, and contributing feedback should be as high on your list of todo for the November meeting as getting those I-D 00 out. 2. the earlier the feedback, the better for the nomcom. I would even say that early feedback is significantly more interesting. 3. I am opposed to actuallying closing the feedback system *off* until *at least* the end of the plenary week. But, I think the week after IETF won't get any additional useful feedback. I just won't say no to the feedback. 4. Feedback after the nomcom has made a decision could very well cause us to revisit our decision. There could well be November plenary week things/incidents which are worth having the nomcom understand. So if I were to draw a graph of usefulness of feedback over Sept/Oct/Nov, then it would have a sawtooth on Plenary Friday, but naturally, we all know how to do fourier transforms on that, and so really it doesn't go to zero, just it's really low. -- Michael Richardson <mcr+IETF@xxxxxxxxxxxx> . o O ( IPv6 IøT consulting ) Sandelman Software Works Inc, Ottawa and Worldwide
