I think at least this time the choice of F8 is obvious: * It's the version to go EOL next. * F9 is a version with huge changes: - KDE 4 - X.Org X11R7.4 (server 1.5.0) - GCC 4.3 etc. all of which contribute to people being stuck on F8. Frankly, if even the manpower to maintain F8 now can't be found, then I doubt there will ever be enough manpower for an LTS release.
