I am always always impressed by the discussion's  high caliber and
information content--I tend to learn a lot. My recollection is that
proposals are being changed as a result.

In this case, the implementation proposal using /usr/lib/environment.d has been pretty thoroughly rejected, so this proposal is really going to have to be modified.
