Hi, thanks for answer. I'm sorry that I did not know my soundcard is supported by my OS, but for my apology I have to say, I do not know how to find out it. I've try to google it now and all I found was my questions how to get gina working. But back to problem: After installing package you've mentioned, I'm able to hear sound. That's great, without any doubt. I think sound is little quiter then in windows, but I'm not sure. What I am sure, is fact, that when I set dB above 0 (any value from zero to six (max)), then I hear corrupted sound. I'm not sure what to think about it, since in win I've never heard any error (actually I've also wasnt able to set more then +0dB). So that's the first question - is it normal or some kind of misconfiguration? Second question is more complicated. After system start, there is no sound. Mplayer, for example, prints this: ========================================================================== Forced audio codec: mad Opening audio decoder: [ffmpeg] FFmpeg/libavcodec audio decoders AUDIO: 44100 Hz, 2 ch, s16le, 739.7 kbit/52.41% (ratio: 92458->176400) Selected audio codec: [ffflac] afm: ffmpeg (FFmpeg FLAC audio decoder) ========================================================================== AO: [pulse] Failed to connect to server: Connection refused [AO_ALSA] alsa-lib: pcm_hw.c:266:(snd_pcm_hw_hw_params) SNDRV_PCM_IOCTL_HW_PARAMS failed: Resource temporarily unavailable [AO_ALSA] Unable to set hw-parameters: Resource temporarily unavailable AO: [oss] 44100Hz 2ch s16le (2 bytes per sample) Video: no video Starting playback... But when I run alsamixer and quit immediately, then everything starts working. I don't get it. The last question is probably for someone how also have this card or solved similar problem. Mixers and card setting: Original windows mixer looks like this: http://alfonz19.uvadi.cz/sound/gina.jpg I can set levels, switch on phantom power or swith card modes. How can one do it in linux? In alsamixer I can set all 4 pci outputs, right, but lineplayback +4/-10dB switch I can set only for one of them (other 3 are present but cant be set), phantom power I cannot turn on at all, and there are monitor mixers 0-140 which I actually do not know what they are, possibility of switch card mode is also kind a "hidden" for my eyes. Kmixer in kubuntu looks totally confused and does not work correctly. So what is the best interface to control my card? Thanks in advance alfonz. 2009/5/3 Frans Ketelaars <ketelaars@xxxxxxxxxx>: > On Sunday 03 May 2009 17:39, Martin Mucha wrote: >> Yes, you're ABSOLUTELY right. It's missing firmware.
