Student looking for field position

I am searching for a paid or
expenses-paid position that will allow further exposure to either field or
laboratory based research in the field of volcanology. I have a keen interest
in experiencing both field and lab work, and my specific area of interest deals
mainly in volatile emissions and geochemistry of volcanic emissions. I have had
prior experience in the principle practices of lab and field work.

 My research include the role
that volcanism plays in cycling material between the solid Earth and its
atmosphere and the impacts of volcanic activity on the environment. More in
detail, my research interest is in investigating volcanic mercury and halogens
emissions into the atmosphere. I am interested in quantifying the volcanic flux
and understanding more about mercury speciation in volcanic emissions. In the
last years, I performed several field works on different volcanic contexts
ranging from Italian volcanoes (Etna, Stromboli, Vulcano island) to those
overseas like Masaya (Nicaragua), Myakejima (Japan), La Soufriere and
Montserrat  (Less Antilles), Turrialba
(Costa Rica), Teide (Canary islands) to monitor Hg and major and trace halogens
in the gas phase. I currently perform astudies for investigating on the origin
of soluble salts adhering on ash surface and their relation with plume's chemical composition by analizing ash leachates at Stromboli,
Etna  and Eyjafjallajökull volcanoes.

My lab experience comes from a 7
years of research period at the Dept. CFTA,University of Palermo, Italy. I
currently ended my last year of a post doc position in geochemistry.

I am a highly motivated
student with a passion for geology, love knowledge and the outdoors, and an eagerness to travel.Best regards.
