The Faculty of Earth Sciences in the School of Engineering and Natural Sciences, University of Iceland, seeks applicants to fill the position of Professor in petrology and petrochemistry. The Professor is expected to carry out research in petrology and petrochemistry, supervise graduate students and teach courses at undergraduate and graduate level in petrology, mineralogy and related fields. Besides having a doctorate degree or equivalent, applicants should have a strong track record in research and be prepared to take a leading role in shaping the future of research and teaching in petrology and petrochemistry at the University of Iceland. Strong communication skills are essential assets.
The appointment will initially be for five years, after which tenure will be granted subject to satisfactory performance.
The evaluation of academic merits will be in accordance with Icelandic Law and Rules for the University of Iceland No. 569/2009.
