Good find! I had 29 plugins, newmail was on position 9. I disabled some so that only 11 were left
and I manually edited config.php so that newmail was the first plugin ($plugins[0] = 'newmail';)

Now it works fine!!!

I will have a look if the position was important or if there were any other plugins interfering, I
will let you know if I find something out!
