Hmm, I've been using
    rpmbuild -bs path/to/myspecfile.spec
to build the .src.rpm. Is that missing anything?

And herein lies the problem. What if the host distro that you
use to do he build is not binary compatible with the distro that
use build? Maybe different flags, linker, glibc, etc?
