In fact, I have no real SCSI hardware here.
when you plug it in, it should make an entry in /var/log/dmesg...
tail /var/log/dmesg should tell you which device it is...it's likely not to be /dev/sda1
Here it is what I get *before* and *after* I plug the flash USB memory - both look the same:
$ tail /var/log/dmesg usb.c: registered new driver hiddev usb.c: registered new driver hid hid-core.c: v1.8.1 Andreas Gal, Vojtech Pavlik <vojtech@xxxxxxx> hid-core.c: USB HID support drivers mice: PS/2 mouse device common for all mice EXT3 FS 2.4-0.9.19, 19 August 2002 on ide0(3,5), internal journal Adding Swap: 417648k swap-space (priority -1) kjournald starting. Commit interval 5 seconds EXT3 FS 2.4-0.9.19, 19 August 2002 on ide0(3,3), internal journal EXT3-fs: mounted filesystem with ordered data mode. $ tail /var/log/dmesg usb.c: registered new driver hiddev usb.c: registered new driver hid hid-core.c: v1.8.1 Andreas Gal, Vojtech Pavlik <vojtech@xxxxxxx> hid-core.c: USB HID support drivers mice: PS/2 mouse device common for all mice EXT3 FS 2.4-0.9.19, 19 August 2002 on ide0(3,5), internal journal Adding Swap: 417648k swap-space (priority -1) kjournald starting. Commit interval 5 seconds EXT3 FS 2.4-0.9.19, 19 August 2002 on ide0(3,3), internal journal EXT3-fs: mounted filesystem with ordered data mode. $
But, after plugin it in, I get some new info added within Control Center > Information > USB Devices :
USB UHCI Root Hub (1) <-- the existing info *before* |_ USB 2.0 Mobile Disk <-- the new info *after*
What else to try?

Misko
