Define "large time delay". When I reply to several users who have a problem and ask them a few questions, already one day later I would not remember what exactly I had asked in which context. For instance, I would not understand when someone posted the output of "cat /etc/fstab" at the top without quoting above it a relevant portion of my previous comment or question. To understand why the user posts the file, I would need to look up the previous message at the bottom and most likely wade through much more poorly formatted quoted text than necessary. Top posters often include several levels of hardly readable complete quotes including list footers and signatures. And in case my previous message contained more than one question, I would need to scroll back and forth between top reply and bottom quote in order to make sense out of the reply. And guess what? That would be beyond my time. Hence I'm much more likely to reply to messages that are well-formatted or where a subscriber is not too lazy to cut off irrelevant portions of text. - -- -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.2 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQE/OHPN0iMVcrivHFQRAsZ9AJ41K15EFE/k0th2DXg592LS3rKQtQCgiBgi Z8yQZ5dNtyER/icc42yHSgE= =1jyZ -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- Shrike-list mailing list Shrike-list@xxxxxxxxxx https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/shrike-list
