Now that is one cool technique!  I wanted a simple way to rip out
and reinstall the sound drivers and this one did the trick.  Very
good information to have!

I did the procedure and kudzu indeed re-discovered the device.  No
joy, however.  But I'll reinstall tomorrow and everything should be
fine.
