You could edit kudzu's memory. Go to /etc/sysconfig/hwconf Remove the sections relating to your soundcard (between the dashes).
As root, you should be able to run /usr/sbin/kudzu from the command line (or reboot).

I've rmmod'd what seemed to be the relevant things (maestro3, soundcore, etc.), but a reboot brought them back.
