Ok I removed the ide-scsi from grub. I still have an interesting warning.

You can try to remove scsi emulation to see if it works better for you. Just
remove scsi related parameters from kernel command line (/etc/grub.conf) and
reboot the system. kudzu should configure the rest for you. Then you can use
'cdrecord -scanbus -dev=ATAPI' command to see the devices. You may need to
configure some cd writing/ripping tools to use ATAPI devices instead of
scsi, while some of them may detect this by themselves.

With the new kernel I see a different reply from cdrecord -scanbus
scsibus0:
0,0,0 0) 'Memorex ' '52MAXX 2452AJ ' '6WS6' Removable CD-ROM
cdrecord: Warning: controller returns wrong size for CD capabilities page.

0,3,0 3) *
0,4,0 4) *
0,5,0 5) *
0,6,0 6) *
0,7,0 7) *
With the old kernel I did not see the warning.
Is there a way to change the size of the memorex drive?
I keep having missing interrupts and buffer overflows with the memorex drive.
