I'm trying to install k3b on my machine. k3bsetup
won't see the writer and sees it as a 1x reader

cdrecord -scanbus gives

Cdrecord 2.0 (i686-pc-linux-gnu) Copyright (C) 1995-2002 Jörg Schilling
Linux sg driver version: 3.1.24
Using libscg version 'schily-0.7'
cdrecord: Warning: using inofficial libscg transport code version

cat /proc/scsi/scsi gives

Attached devices:
Host: scsi0 Channel: 00 Id: 00 Lun: 00
  Vendor: HP Model: CD-Writer+ 9500 Rev: 1.0e
Type: CD-ROM ANSI SCSI revision: 02

lsmod gives (among other things):

Module Size Used by Tainted: P
ide-scsi 12208 1
scsi_mod 107544 3 [sg sr_mod ide-scsi]
ide-cd 35712 0
cdrom 33728 0 [sr_mod ide-cd]

so as far as I can see all is well, but k3bsetup
won't recognise the reader/writer - suggestions
please.
