Steps for installing with 3w-xxxx module RH 9.0:
1. install RH 9.0 and kernel-source from stock RH9.0 on another machine or this
one, if this machine install to disk on regular ide/scsi port.
2. make sure symlink for source points to /usr/src/linux
3. download source from 3ware.com
4. unzip and follow directions included to build module
5. cp 3w-xxxx.bot to a floppy

USE MACHINE WITH 3 Ware controller from here on out
6. start RH 9.0 install with "linux noprobe"
7. when asked to add drivers hit alt-F2, make a mount point, and mount floppy
8. execute "insmod /mnt/floppy/3w-xxx.bot", will load with warnings
9. go back install screen (alt-F1) and click done and finish install or upgrade
10. be sure to install lynx or links
11. after install boot linux rescue and start up networking, skip automounting
hard drives
12. rmmod 3w-xxx, mkdir /mnt/floppy, mount /dev/fd0 /mnt/floppy
13. insmod /mnt/floppy/3w-xxx.bot
14. mount partitions and chroot to setup
15. either register for RHN or use lynx/links to goto apt.freshrpms.net
16. download apt and install
17. execute apt-get update, then apt-get install kernel#2.4.20-18.9
18. edit /etc/grub.conf, set default = 0
19. exit chroot and umount all partitions
20. reboot to your new RH 9.0 machine

NOTE: This is not for the weak hearted as it took some thinking and reboots. I
also dont believe that a released product like this still hasn't been fixed
since this problem existed in another form in RH 8.0 I believe RedHat makes a
high quality product, but for some reason has overlooked this as I am sure they
have had many support calls on this.
