We've been unable to get 6xxx series cards to work w/ RHL9 ourselves.  
We've had to upgrade our customers to 7xxx series cards.  Even an 
updated firmware didn't help.

One thing you might try, use 3ware's source download of their driver to 
build a driver disk for the install, and somehow force the install to 
use your driver rather than the one included on the CDs.
