Looks like the only real difference is the java version.

$ rpm -qa | grep -i j2
j2re-1.4.1-fcs

$ rpm -qa | grep -i mozilla
mozilla-1.3-0_rh8_xft
mozilla-nss-1.3-0_rh8_xft
mozilla-psm-1.3-0_rh8_xft
mozilla-nspr-1.3-0_rh8_xft

The only difference I see is that I didn't rename the plugin.

$ ll /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/
total 1740
- -rwxr-xr-x    1 root     root          856 Mar 22 23:40 flashplayer.xpt
lrwxrwxrwx    1 root     root           55 Mar 15 19:30 javaplugin_oji.so
- -> /usr/java/j2re1.4.1/plugin/i386/ns610/javaplugin_oji.so
- -rwxr-xr-x    1 root     root      1470464 Mar 22 23:41 libflashplayer.so
- -rwxr-xr-x    1 root     root       129611 Oct 17 01:08 nppdf.so
- -rwxr-xr-x    1 root     root        28277 Aug 28  2002 plugger.so
- -r-xr-xr-x    2 root     root       131580 May 18  2001 rpnp.so

Just to be sure, I tested a few applets in mozilla and they all worked
fine. I poked around here:
