How hard is it to insert the first three CDs, one at a time, and

Well it's not that hard. However, after figuring out they have been
installed and I continue to recieve errors (being new to this system) I
thought there are other  packages to install and maybe I was overlooking
something important.

At the very least, you are going to need to install:
gcc
gcc-c++
cpp
make
glibc-devel
glibc-kernheaders
binutils

I believe I have installed all the packages needed however I still am
receiving errors

# ./configure
loading cache ./config.cache
checking for a BSD compatible install... /usr/bin/install -c
checking whether build environment is sane... yes
checking whether make sets ${MAKE}... yes
checking for working aclocal... found
checking for working autoconf... found
checking for working automake... found
checking for working autoheader... found

checking for gcc... gcc
checking whether the C compiler (gcc  ) works... yes
checking whether the C compiler (gcc  ) is a cross-compiler... no
checking whether we are using GNU C... yes
checking whether gcc accepts -g... yes
checking how to run the C preprocessor... gcc -E
checking for c++... no
checking for g++... no
checking for gcc... gcc
checking whether the C++ compiler (gcc  ) works... no
configure: error: installation or configuration problem: C++ compiler
cannot create executables.
