Ok I updated autoconf and everything but:
makeinfo

I couldn't find where the gcc package was on the red hat 8 CD's 

What site can I find that will tell me where the gcc package and
makeinfo package can be found. on the cds that is.

here is the output of the latest try on ./configure 

# ./configure

cannot create executables.

any Ideas
