Here's what I'd recommend -

Go to http://people.redhat.com/~katzj/evolution/RPMS and download all of
the rpms there into a new directory (say, evo12). 

Close evolution if it's open. 

Start a terminal program.

Run "killev" to halt all evolution-related processes. 

>From your home directory, run 

$ tar -Czf evolution-backup.tar.gz evolution/

to backup your mail and settings.

Navigate to the directory where you downloaded the new rpms. 

Run "su" and give your root password, then run the following command:

# rpm -Uvh *.rpm

Exit from the terminal and launch evolution.
