Sorry but I've to correct you and that one. On my desk:
3COM Fast Etherlink PCI 10/100 Base-T Ethernet Adapter 3C595-TX.
Maybe the first in the 3C59X series were not capable of 100Mbit, but this
one is for sure.

Do you have the 3COM configuration floppy? Then you can boot from a DOS/W98
rescue boot floppy and configure the adapter via this tool on 100Mbit-FD (if
possible ;-).
